PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
A new year, a new beginning
At the end of the 2006-2007 season, nearly half the marching band graduated and band director Mr. Paul Haase retired after many years of dedicated service. But recruitment was strong and a new director, a former student of Mr.Haase's, was appointed. The result: The Belleville High School marching band was off to a terrific start!
Under the leadership of Pam Brigante, the band kicked off its competitive season Sunday, Oct. 7, after performing at the Columbus Day festivities at Town Hall in Belleville. After their performance, which included the Star-Spangled Banner and the Italian national anthem, the band proceeded to J.P. Stevens High School in Edison to debut its new show—Dancing through the Decades.
The band took first place at J.P Stevens and won top awards for Best Color Guard and Best Effect. Then, on Oct. 14, they swept the first-place awards for their group at a competition at Carteret High School. And on Oct. 27, the band earned 5th place out of 20 superb bands at the NJ State Championship.
None of this is possible without the dedication of our new band director, the students (rookies and veterans), and the parents. But we need your continued support! Participation in the band's activities and fundraising are critical to the success of the band. Please help out when ever you can and join us in these upcoming events:
